About: 

John Lehmann was a writer, poet and publisher. He was the editor of the hugely influential magazine New Writing [1] (1936-40), which also published South Asian writers such as Ahmed Ali [2] and Mulk Raj Anand [3]. He was managing director for Virginia and Leonard Woolf's Hogarth Press [4] from 1938-46, before founding his own publishing company.
