Humpty Dumpty





‘When I use a word’ Humpty-Dumpty said in a rather scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean – neither more or less.’












Like Humpty-Dumpty we all use words to mean different things. Your choice of definition of information from the list on the previous page may well reflect your occupation, your lifestyle or your personal philosophy. For example, a statistician will probably think about ‘interpreted data’, a scientist may focus on facts, and a politician will interpret it in terms of power.
