This is my list from last Saturday:
| My decisions | Information |
|---|---|
| To get up or to lie in? | What football matches are on? (look in the newspaper) Is it going to be raining? (listen to weather forecast on the radio) |
| Drive to football or go by train? | look at rail timetable – ring Trainline service |
| Go with Matt and Jim (friends)? | look up their phone numbers in my book and ring them |
| What shopping do I need for the week? | What's in stock? (cupboards and fridge) Am I in or out for the rest of the week? (check my diary) |
| What exactly to buy? (in supermarket) | What's on special offer? (shelves, posters and displays) |
| Go to cinema? | look at programme in local paper |
Thinking about that Saturday, I had to access quite a lot of information – from the media (newspapers, radio), my own personal information systems (diary, address book), and from other sources – timetables, telephone information services, supermarket displays – all just so that I could make a few very modest decisions.
