Topic 3    Databases

In this section we are going to use a practice database called ‘ArticleFirst’ to have a go at some of the techniques we looked at on the ROUTES database. We've chosen to use this smaller part of the database rather than all of it (which contains thousands of records) to give you an idea of what it looks like before we try it ‘for real’, later on.

Activity    Using the ArticleFirst practice database

When you click on the ‘ArticleFirst’ link below, a new browser window will automatically open up. You will see instructions for a series of activities on the left, and the ‘ArticleFirst’ practice database will appear on the right. As with the ROUTES activity that you did in the last topic, there are around 20 small steps to this activity and you should allow about 1 hour to complete them all. When you have finished the activity, a ‘close window’ button will close the window you are in and return you here.
