New Publication (Sept 2019): Bianco et al. Lithos "The lawsonite-glaucophane blueschists of Elba Island (Italy)"

A new paper has just been published containing Ar-Ar dating from the OU Ar-Ar and Noble Gas Lab which looks at the lawsonite-glaucophane blueschists of Elba Island (Italy).

The paper by Caterina Bainco et al. looks at the high P bluseschists from Elba island in terms of their chemistry, mineralogy and tectonic setting, modelling the PT history of the rocks and showin how this fits with the wider regional geology and tectonics. Ar dating of the glaucophane within the samples to 19.8 ± 1.4 Ma suggests that much of the glaucophane form during a deformation episode, at the lawsonite-epidote transition, within the blueschist facies, this episode, attributed to the early Miocene.

Bianco, C., Godard, G., Halton, A., Brogi, A., Liotta, D. & Caggianelli, A. 2019. The lawsonite-glaucophane blueschists of Elba Island (Italy). Lithos 348-349, article 105198
