Equality and Diversity

Equality and diversity

The School of Environment, Earth and Ecosystems is committed to ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion. We work in accordance with the Open University's vision of a fair and just society:

  • where people are treated with dignity and respect
  • where inequalities are challenged
  • where we anticipate, and respond positively to, different needs and circumstances

Athena SWAN

The School is working towards its Bronze Athena SWAN award, recognizing its commitment to gender equality. The Athena SWAN Charter recognizes the need for equal participation from women in STEM employment in higher education and research.

Flexible working policy

Working from home

The Open University has an Agile Working Policy which allows staff and students to use compressed hours, staggered hours, home working, part-time working and job sharing, and using a range of technologies to stay connected.

If you would like to know more about Equality and Diversity in the School, please contact the Chair of Equality and Diversity, Karen Olsson-Francis.
