Three Minutes Thesis (3MT) PhD Student Conference Tuesday 16th May

Well done to the six EEES 3rd year PhD students, each of whom presented their research in a very eloquent and engaging manner at the 3-minute thesis conference this morning. The layout and clarity of everyone’s single slide, the speed of delivery and clarity of message, and the ways in which they all responded to questions from the audience was excellent.

For those of you unable to attend the event this morning, the six talks in order of presentation, were:
  • Max Bodmer “Restoration of the long-spined sea urchin Diadema antillarum to Caribbean coral reefs”
  • Jonathan Moles “Tracking the climate of the past using volcanic ash”
  • Costanza Morino “The ‘hidden’ hazard of melting ground-ice in Northern Iceland”
  • Kerry Reid “Persistent degassing at Masaya volcano, Nicaragua”
  • Matthew Saker-Clark “Extreme environmental change in the Jurassic”
  • Peter Woolman “Bacteria entombed within salt crystals”
