Work Experience

If you are thinking about a career in science you may want to consider a work experience placement.

Work experience for school students

We invite you to apply by submitting a student pro forma via your school's work experience co-ordinator (please send this to our administration team).

Our administration team will then liaise with academics in the School to see if you are a good match for one of our projects, available at that time. We will then send an offer letter to your school.

Successful students are invited to an informal interview a couple of weeks before the placement begins to provide us with an opportunity to meet you, and for you to see the School, meet your supervisor and ask any questions. All work experience placements will be for between one to two weeks.

Work experience for undergraduate students

Occasionally, we are able to host visiting undergraduate students to gain detailed research experience working alongside an academic on an identified research project. If you are interested in gaining some experience, please contact our administration team with the following details:

  • Name
  • University
  • Degree and current year of study
  • Dates available
  • Areas of interest
  • Current CV

We will circulate your details to the relevant academics in the School and will get back to you if a suitable project arises. Visiting student placements can be of any duration.

If you have any further queries about a work experience placement, please feel free to contact our administration team.
