Research summary :
    The neuropsychology group encompasses a number of research areas surrounding cognition and its biological basis in health and ill-health. For example research is being conducted into the neurobiology of attention and the neuropathology of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. There is also a core strand of research on Autism which includes exploring the cognitive strengths and weaknesses of the autism phenotype and examining whether there is a genetic link between intellectual abilities and autistic traits. In addition there is ongoing work into the atypical cognitive and socio-cognitive functioning that occurs in autism and dementia which aims to shed light on the experience of affected individuals and implications for their well-being and to inform understanding of normal cognitive and socio-cognitive functioning.
Psychology postgraduate opportunities are also available in the Psychology in Social Sciences group (main topics social, forensic, occupational and theoretical psychology), and the Centre for Childhood, Development and Learning, Faculty of Education and Language Studies (main topics developmental and educational psychology).
