The Faculty has a staff of about 305, comprising around 115 academic staff (central and regional) with the balance made up of research staff, course managers, laboratory staff, technicians, administrators and secretaries. There are also large numbers of research students and visitors on site.
The Faculty is composed of 3 departments (Environment, Earth and Ecosystems, Life, Health and Chemical Sciences and Physical Sciences) each focusing on a specific science discipline. The departments provide the focus for both teaching and research in their discipline areas.
The Faculty currently supports 5 undergraduate discipline-based programmes; Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Molecular Science, Geosciences, and Physical Science; as well as a broad-based Natural Sciences programme which is cross-disciplinary. At post-graduate level, the Faculty supports an MSc programme which currently has 2 strands; Life Sciences and Science. The Faculty also has an interdisciplinary research centre - the Centre for Earth, Space, Planetary and Astronomical Research (CEPSAR) that brings together staff from Earth and Environmental Sciences, PSSRI and Physics & Astronomy.
