Life, Health and Chemical Sciences

The Department of Life, Health and Chemical Sciences houses an enthusiastic group of colleagues whose areas of interest range from human biology and psychology through to the molecular basis of life. This wide range of interests offers the opportunity for interesting and vibrant collaborative projects in both teaching and research. Members of the Department also have a strong voice in promoting the public understanding of science, and promote our successes at all levels from school lectures and outreach activities, via broadcast media, to talks at international congresses. We have an international outlook, and have strong links in the developing world, particularly Ethiopia.

The Department comprises four Disciplines:

•  Brain and Behavioural Sciences (Head: Dr Payam Rezaie)

•  Cell and Molecular Biology (Head: Dr Mark Hirst)

•  Chemistry and Analytical Sciences (Head: Dr Elaine Moore)

•  Human Biology (Head: Dr Kerry Murphy)
