Professor Colin Pillinger Lecture at The Open University

Primary tabs

CEPSAR's Professor Colin Pillinger, was recently awarded the Royal Society Faraday Medal and he will repeat a lecture given to The Society, on his work at 4pm on Friday 2 March  in the Berrill Lecture Theatre, at The Open University in Milton Keynes.

Stones from the sky: A heaven-sent opportunity to talk about science.

“Meteorites provide us with samples from distant bodies including asteroids, comets, the moon and ancient stars. Witnesses to the extraordinary event when one is seen to fall from the sky, or anyone finding one on the ground also have a story to tell. It's a potent mix for science communication, not just by scientists, but to scientists.”

The lecture will be followed at 5pm by a reception in the Berrill café area where the Pro-Vice Chancellor Research and Scholarship will make a presentation to Colin.

All are welcome to the lecture and reception, but please RSVP to Michelle Leonard so we can cater effectively.

The lecture will be recorded and will be available via Stadium.
