Our extensive analytical laboratory facilities are housed in purpose-built laboratories in the Robert Hook Building on the Walton Hall Campus and are dedicated to quantifying planetary processes by continually developing cutting-edge techniques for chemical and isotopic measurement:

  • Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS)
  • Light Stable Isotopes
  • Micro Raman Spectroscopy
  • NanoSims
Facilities for the simulation of a range of Solar System environments and the simulation of Solar System impact processes on analogue materials are available for use by the wider community in a collaborative manner. The facilities are broadly divided into two areas: impact facilities to simulate natural and artificial impact processes and environmental simulation using custom designed vacuum chambers:
