SPS research picked as 2017 HOT Article By PCCP Journal

The article 'Resonances in low-energy electron scattering from para- benzoquinone'  by Alexandra Loupas and Jimena D. Gorfinkiel hasbeen picked as one the HOT articles published in Physical Chemistry

Chemical Physics (PCCP) in 2017. It can be accessed (free of charge until the end ofFebruary) here:

The paper presents calculations performed by Alexandra Loupas as part of her PhD work aimed at elucidating the characteristics of transient negative ions of para-benzoquinone. Quinones play a crucial role in biological systems:for example, they are key in photosynthesis where they are involved in the electron transfer process  The electron-transfer properties of quinones are influenced by the formation of electronically excited states of their transient anions.
