Success at the Learning on Screen Awards

Congratulations to Professor of Planetary Science and Exploration Mahesh Anand and the team which produced '8 Days: to the Moon and Back' for winning two awards at the Learning on Screen Awards last week. '8 Days: to the Moon and Back' won Best Creative Use, and also the prestigious Learning on Screen’s Premiere Award.

For 15 years the Learning on Screen Awards have showcased the best educational film and television, celebrating a wide range of broadcast and professional productions. Prof Anand was academic consultant on the film, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission - a journey that changed the way we think about our place in the universe. It is a wonderful drama recreation of the Apollo 11 Mission and accuracy was paramount. You can find out more information and watch the programme here

We also congratulate Prof Stephen Lewis and Prof Dave Rothery for being on the shortlist for Best Broadcast Award for The Planets (Episode 1: A Moment in the Sun - The Terrestrial Planets). The Planets was a series that showcased some of the research strengths within SPS. There is more information about the programme here.
