PhD Opportunities

Postgraduate Research Opportunities

For start in October 2011 the Department of Physics and Astronomy anticipates having a number of full-time studentships funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council. In addition, we may have studentships funded by The Open University or other external bodies, which will be announced as soon as they are available.

PhD opportunities within the Department of Physics and Astronomy cover a wide range of physics, astronomy and planetary science related to the research activities of the group as evidenced by the projects listed for 2009 entry. The different areas draw upon a range of skills depending on the nature of individual projects, covering backgrounds including geochemistry, geophysics, physics, astronomy, engineering or biochemistry.
