Sustaining Open Education Practice (OEP) and the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) is an important step in ensuring that informal and formal learning is able to flourish in a changing landscape of higher education provision everywhere.

Understanding what drives people to engage in OER will enable you to engage in strategic discussions at a number of different levels within your institution. This workshop will consider how OER and OEP are impacting on Higher Education, why this is beneficial to learners, lecturers and institutions and what can be done to build on the movement.

10:00 – 10:15	Registration and Coffee
10:15 – 10:30	Welcome and introduction Brief overview of the current context and prospects for the future
10:30 – 11:00	Sustaining MEDEV’s OER Work (Megan Quentin-Baxter) Key aspects considered and impacting on MEDEV’s OER work
11:00 – 11:30	Leeds Met’s Unicycle Project (Simon Thomson) Key aspects considered and impacting on the Unicycle Project
11:30 – 12:00	Strategic Content Alliance (Sarah Fahmy) Aims, objectives, benefits and the impact that it’s had on the OER community
12:30 – 13:00	Q & A Session Presenters answer questions on sustainability, institutional policy wrt sustainability, etc
13:00 – 14:00	Lunch
14:00 – 15:30	Discussion Group discussion/practical where participants work on resolving key questions regarding sustaining OER in their own institutions – online forum / google docs so that external participants can join in.
15:30 – 16:00	Feedback plus tea and coffee
