The Humbox Project

Project Name:  Humbox

Funded by:  JISC/HEA

Discipline:  Humanities

OER URL:  www.humbox.ac.uk

The HumBox Project is a collaboration between four Subject Centres (Languages, Linguistics & Area Studies; English; History, Classics and Archaeology; and Philosophy and Religious Studies) and a consortium of universities all over the UK, with the aim of “encouraging the publication and sharing of educational resources by and across subject communities within the humanities field”.

Under the auspices of JISC and the Higher Education Academy’s phase 1 of the OER programme, the HumBox team delivered an online repository which to date holds over 1,300 resources in a variety of media. A community of 200+ registered users is at the heart of the project’s success and model of sustainability of OER, as it endorses peer review and strives to provide the support and guidance needed to enable the effective sharing and reuse of materials.
