With Winter – just like Autumn - happily reaching a wide readership, Ali Smith finds herself at the half-way point of a planned quartet of novels titled after the seasons. Written and published with uncommon speed, these remarkable Brexit-era books enjoy a spirit of ‘carpe diem’ topicality. They are, in the true sense, novel. Smith discusses her work with the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon.

There is free learning to try on the OU site OpenLearn, such courses about Society, Politics and Law and the 12-hour course, Start writing fiction.
