The Open University is delighted to be supporting Jules Horne's playwriting workshop at the upcoming DunsPlayFest.

Jules Horne is an award-winning playwright and fiction writer from the Borders. Her plays for stage include the Fringe First-winning Allotment and Thread for Edinburgh’s Nutshell Theatre, Gorgeous Avatar for the Traverse Theatre, and Scape for students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. 

She has written many plays for BBC radio, including Left at the Lights, Inner Critic, A Place in the Rain, Small Blue Thing and Macmillan’s Marvellous Motion Machine. Her fiction includes Wrapped Town and Nanonovels. 

Jules has just completed a two-year project as Associate Playwright for Playwrights’ Studio Scotland in the Borders, and teaches creative writing as an Associate Lecturer at The Open University.

You can try Creative Writing course content for free, on the OU site OpenLearn, such as the 8-hour course Writing what you know, or the 12-hour course Start writing fiction.

The OU also offers the modules Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing, a BA (Honours) English Literature and Creative Writing, and an MA in Creative Writing.
