Our disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects, working with a range of collaborators, demonstrate our vibrant research culture, and commitment to engagement with the wider world.

School of Arts & Humanities

The School of Arts and Humanities has developed significant online research resources available to all, thanks to the world-renowned work taking place across its diverse research groups and projects. These include The Listening Experience Database (LED)UK RED: The Reading Experience Database and The Open Arts Archive. We also produce open-access journals, including the Open Arts JournalNew Voices In Classical Reception Studies and Practitioners’ Voices in Classical Reception Studies (PVCRS).

School of Social Sciences & Global Studies

The School of Social Sciences and Global Studies is a hub for disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and research-led teaching that aims to tackle some of the most pressing challenges faced by societies across the globe. As part of its response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the School has launched the Social Scientific Research in the Time of COVID-19 repository, in which dozens of articles, analyses, interviews and other interventions made by SSGS staff and postgraduate students have been gathered. Sociology Professor Marie Gillespie has also been leading on a related initiative, COVID-19: Chronicles from the Margins which focuses on life during the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of asylum-seekers, refugees and migrants from different parts of the world.

School of Psychology & Counselling

The School of Psychology & Counselling hosts its research activities under the Open Psychology Research Centre. The Centre promotes an open psychology that crosses disciplinary boundaries, is relevant to real social and personal issues, and acknowledges the degree to which human psychology is shaped by history. It seeks to understand, transform and enrich the lives of individuals and communities by means of engaged research collaborations which embrace many perspectives.
