Queer(y)ing Psychology 3, July 2007 at The Open University

Queer Relationships

This seminar explored the possibilities and problems that arise when attempting to think and indeed live queer relationships. The event consisted of discussion around three trigger papers circulated prior to the meeting. The day ranged widely with considerable discussion around the question of what are queer relationships and the difficulties of practically realising new forms of relating.

Theorising Desire in Queer Theory

This seminar sought to explore the ways in which desire has been and may be theorised in queer theory. In particular, the seminar explored the critical tensions that arise from using psychoanalytic theory. The day consisted of two talks and considerable discussion. The first talk was given by Darren Langdridge (The Open University) entitled Beyond the natural attitude: An existential-hermeneutic theory of desire whilst the second was For The Birds: Schizoanalysis and the Politics of Desire by Michael O'Rourke (University College Dublin).
