Mission

Queer(y)ing Psychology is the name for a group of psychologists and other social scientists interested in exploring the implications of queer theory and politics for the discipline. Psychology has been slow to engage with social theory and the lack of attention paid within the discipline to queer theory is no exception. This group was established to encourage critical discussion of queer theories and methodologies along with an exploration of the relationship between queer politics and work with(in) psychology, counselling and psychotherapy. All members are committed to exploring these relationships but are differently committed (or not) to queer theory and politics.

New members (academics, postgraduates, practitioners and activists) are very welcome and encouraged to make contact to receive further information about the group and future activities, please contact Darren Langdridge, d.langdridge@open.ac.uk.
