Before you apply for credit transfer you should decide which OU qualification you wish to study.
If you change your mind at a later date you can apply for your credit from previous study to be reassessed, but we need to know which OU qualification you wish to study for this to be done.
You can apply for your credit transfer to be assessed towards a maximum of three qualifications per application.
Qualification choice may affect credit transfer value
If you apply for assessment of credit transfer towards one of our named degrees we usually also assess your study towards our Open degree, as we can often make a greater award towards this qualification. Find out more about our Open Programme.
If your previous studies were not in a similar subject area to the qualification named in your application. It will be referred to an academic expert in the subject area of the OU qualification that you are applying for credit towards. They will look to see how closely your previous study matches that of the OU qualification and where it is appropriate for you to transfer credit into the OU qualification. Some qualifications allow study in an unrelated subject area to be transferred into the qualification. If you are applying for credit transfer towards our Open programme then your previous study can be in any subject area.
