Benefits for union members

Benefits noted here are offered as part of the strategic work of the OU and unionlearn partnership, including its affiliated unions.

10% discount* for all union members!

Members of unions affiliated to the TUC, ICTU, STUC and WTUC and who are new to studying with the OU can obtain a 10% discount on Level 1 courses that carry 30 and 60 credit points.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if you are a member of any union that is affiliated to the TUC, ICTU, STUC or WTUC and are NEW to studying with the Open University. If you have only taken a 10-point Openings or Short course before, you will be considered to be a NEW student for this offer.

What discount am I entitled to?

10% on any single level 1, 30 or 60 point course. 3 x 10 point courses cannot be substituted for a 30 point course.

Exclusions

You will not be eligible for the discount if you have already passed a course of 20 points or more, or are currently studying with the OU.

Terms

You will need to prove your union membership by providing a copy of your union membership card with the OU course registration documents.
No retrospective claims are allowed.

Science courses

UNISON members paying for their own study can receive a 10% discount on Science courses (most courses prefixed with a 'S'); You will need to enclose a copy of your UNISON membership card on return of the registration documents.

UNISON members paying for their own study can receive a 10% discount on courses prefixed with a 'B'; you will need to enclose a copy of your UNISON membership card on return of the registration documents.

The Alumni Association

Alumni of The Open University are defined as those who have successfully completed a course and who are not currently studying.

The Open University Alumni Association is dedicated to building an active, lifelong relationship between the university and its former students, the OU Alumni.
