The Open University in Wales has launched a pilot of free, online learning resources for school governors across Wales.
The Wales school governor collection provides 30 hours of flexible learning materials in three areas – leadership, teamwork, and inclusive education – with the aim to support any school governor in their role. The courses include reflective activities, enabling governors to explore varying outcomes for different schools and areas of Wales.
The three courses each focus on a different topic and can be completed independently or as a collection. The flexible, online learning materials can be paused at any point, giving school governors the freedom to choose when they study. The collection is free to use and supplementary to any mandatory training that school governors may be required to complete.
We’ve listed the learning outcomes from each of the courses below to give a taster of what to expect, whether you’re a school governor or know someone who might be interested in the collection.
