Welcome to the Flexible Essential Skills project resources for partners’ page. Here you will find all the information about the project, the courses and the resources available to promote and share with your learners.

What is the Flexible Essential Skills project?

The Open University in partnership with Coleg Gwent, Coleg Cambria, NPTC Group of Colleges and Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales, brings a range of exciting new free online courses to anyone who wants to improve and refresh their everyday skills in maths and English. These are called our Everyday Skills courses.

What are the Everyday Skills courses?

The Level 1 courses will be available from February 2019 and the Level 2 courses from March 2019. Direct links will be embedded as soon as the courses are live to learners.

Everyday English 1 

Everyday English 2

Everyday Maths 1 (Available in English and Welsh)

Everyday Maths 2 (Available in English and Welsh, starting in Summer 2019)

These offer a flexible, online route into the Essential Skills curriculum and are mapped against the Wales Essential Skills Framework.

Learners can study independently online and gain a digital badge, and/or they can be supported by a partner college and gain an Essential Skills qualification.

How to sign up to study?

All Everyday Skills courses can be found on OpenLearn Cymru with full instructions whether the learner wishes to learn independently online, or whether they wish to be supported by one of the partner colleges.
