Pathways to Success

Pathways to Success is an interactive guide that will take you through the free online learning resources available from The Open University.

Why choose Pathways to Success?

There are many reasons for enrolling on a higher education course. However if you’re not sure whether you’re ready for accredited study or you can’t decide what subject to take, Pathways to Success can help.

To get started, simply click on the picture of the guide on the right of the page (PDF opens in new window) and work through it at your own pace.

To get the best from Pathways to Success, you need a hard (paper) copy to work with alongside the interactive version.  You can print one out, or get one from the OU in Wales by emailing us.

Or why not try our new Pathways to Success Facebook pages with self-supporting Facebook groups to help you on your way.

Pathways to Success workshops

During the summer of 2015, we ran a number of outreach sessions in south Wales to introduce community learners to university level study. Following the success of these workshops, we will be holding more workshops right across Wales.

Our Pathways to Success workshops are designed to introduce community learners to higher education study, using the OU’s free OpenLearn resources.

By working with a range of, local, regional and national, organisations our workshops have been delivered to over 115 learners and 311 tutors right across Wales. Partners have included Adult Community Learning centres, FE campuses and the WEA YMCA Community College Cymru.

Community learners

Our workshops sessions have been popular with both learners and partners. One learner explained to us how completing the workshop gave them confidence to get “back into study” while another explained how it prepared them for additional study with The Open University.

One of our partners also explained to us that “Pathways to Success has been excellent for our organisation; it has helped staff to think through their learning and career progression aims and helped build their confidence in their ability to cope with University level learning”

(The OpenLearn site is a vast resource with occasional glitches in the system so if you find a unit doesn’t load, it may be a site problem. Leave it for now and come back at another time when it should work. It doesn’t matter if you can’t access every unit)
