External Engagement (inc. seminars, talks and workshops)
31 Jan - 1 Feb: Yishay Mor participated in the STELLAR network "big meeting" in London, where a group of about thirty researchers and stakeholders convened to work intensively to distil the set of ‘Grand Challenge Problems’ which are areas or topics that have been identified by STELLAR as needing further research.
10th Feb: Elizabeth FitzGerald gave 3 instances of a workshop on 'Geocaching and GPS-aware outdoor learning activities' at the OPAL Environment Education conference, held at East Midlands Conference Centre. Each workshop had approximately 20 participants attending (from wildlife/environment sector, e.g. Wildlife Trusts, County Councils, Forestry Commission etc). Gill Clough and Ann Jones also assisted in the preparation of resources and were due to co-present the workshop but were unable to travel on the day, due to adverse weather conditions.
16th Feb: Mike Sharples interview with Francie Diep, reporter for InnovationNewsDaily working on a story about mobile learning in places where students are more likely to have cell phones than laptops or other devices.
15th Feb: Yishay Mor gave a presentation on "What role do mobile technologies have in supporting new approaches to the education of healthcare professionals in the Global South?" at "[Transformative education for global health: preparing professionals for an interdependent world]", A joint conference between UCL, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the London International Development Centre and the Institute of Education
17th Feb: Mike Sharples member of jury for UNESCO/Nokia "Education for All" initiative, assessing project proposals for mobile technologies to address Youth and Adult Learning needs.
20th Feb: Martin Weller, Keynote Speaker at Digital Researcher event, British Library
Date TBC; Mike Sharples interview with Alexis Sanchez, journalist working on a story for Wired about new battery technology for mobile devices, and what this means for mobile learning.

7-8th Feb: Visit to the University of Prof Ying-Shao Hsu, Prof Fu-Kwun Hwang and Prof Hsin-Kai Wu of National Taiwan Normal University, hosted by Mike Sharples, leading to signing of a MOU between the two institutions.
