Agnes Kukulska-Hulme is giving a keynote speech at the E-Learning Symposium 2011, organized by the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies, University of Southampton, 28 January 2011.
New initiatives
A second meeting was held with Institute of Education (London Knowledge Lab) and University of Nottingham (LSRI) to discuss working together as "Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning" (C-TEL) in order help provide policy message to government organisations such as BIS and DfE, and to consider opportunities for funding. A further meeting is planned for mid February.
IET's first Mobile Learning Winter Festival took place in Jennie Lee on 18-19 January, attended by academics and other staff from across the university. Over 30 presenters from various OU units were involved. Agnes Kukulska-Hulme gave a welcome address on both days.
IET (Agnes Kukulska-Hulme) is collaborating with the Library on preparing an m-libraries workshop, "Evolving content delivery for mobile learners", aimed primarily at the publishing industry, due to be held on 7th March 2011. The workshop addresses the difficulty of supplying content to an increasingly mobile student body, due to lack of appropriate mobile-friendly academic content to meet learners’ needs.
