Jan Parker has been invited to speak at the Founding Symposium of the Cultural Industries Area of the Culture-Society Innovation Hub, University of Leeds,16-17th June 2011

John Richardson has been appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Network for Higher Education and Innovation Research, based at the University of Helsinki.

John Richardson visited the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry on 21-22 June, where he presented a seminar to senior staff of the College and the University of Exeter in their "Inspiring Leadership" series on "Understanding the Under-Attainment of Ethnic Minority Students".

Jan Parker has been appointed sole External Reviewer for the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf)

Agnes Kukulska-Hulme completed her work as an invited Review Panel Member for the new JISC guide to ‘Emerging Practice in a Digital Age’ which will be published in late summer 2011.

Marcelo Fabian Maina, a Lecturer from the Open University of Catalonia, in Barcelona has just spent two weeks in IET as part of the OLnet Fellowship scheme. Marcelo’s research was looking into strategies to promote the adoption of the OER approach as one possible alternative to the traditional educational resources “authoring” process at UOC and also to build a strong network and further collaboration between the two universities.

Debbi Weaver (Swinburne University, Australia) was hosted by IET (John Pettit) on 15 June. Debbi was particularly interested in the support of ALs and the design/development of online modules.
