JLB Lab Studies September 2011 Prizes
Rebecca Ferguson - and co-authors Julia Gillen, Anna Peachey and Peter Twining - were awarded third prize in the Best Paper category at the ReLIVE 2011 conference for their paper 'The strength of cohesive ties: discursive construction of an online learning community'.

The OLnet have three visiting fellows during September, they are:
Sandra Wills - Sandra is Executive Director Learning & Teaching at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Her area of work involves learning design of online role play and in particular she has been involved in long term projects, such as: Project EnRoLE: (Encouraging Role-based Learning Environments) and SimSHARE.
Markus Diemann - Markus is a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Institute of Educational Science and Media Research of the FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany. His research project aims to focus on exploring and mapping educational benefits and theoretical approaches of OER, addressing questions, such as: “Which educational theories and concepts seem appropriate to analyse OER?” and aimed particularly at facilitating theory building that can help to establish OER in educational settings.
Sandhya Gunness - Sandhya is Lecturer in the department of Open and Online Learning at the University of Mauritius. Her project aims at gathering information about OERs and Open educational practices so as to inform stakeholders in developing countries of the potentials of OERs to improve and update curricula, develop institutional capacity and manage growing student cohorts with increasingly differentiated and specific learning needs more effectively
