This site is run using the MediaWiki software, which is used on other sites, most famously Wikipedia. A wiki site is one where anyone can edit any page. If you want to contribute, here is what you have to do:
Get an account
Before you can edit, you need to sign up for an account. To do that, click on the 'Create an account or log in' link at the top right of this page. We requst that as your username, you use your first and last name run together. For example, my username is 'TimHunt'.
Unfortunately OU staff cannot log in with their normal OUCU and password, you have to create a separate account just for this site. On the other hand, that means that other local musicians who are not OU staff can sign up too.
Edit a page
Once you are logged in, you can edit any page by clicking the 'Edit' tab at the top of the main area.
- Edit the text in the text box;
- click the 'Show preview' button to make sure it looks OK; then
- click the 'Save page' button when you are done.
See what changes other people have made to a page
Click on the 'history' tab at the top of the page. You will see a list of all the previouse versions of the page and who made them. To find out what changed between two versions, use the compare button.
Keeping track of this site as it changes
If you want to keep up with what is going on on this site, I recommend bookmarking the Recent changes page. This shows you any changes that have been made to the site in the last few days.
