Visit2.jpgIn association with Hastings College of Arts and Technology, the SLN eLearning Project team hosted an event on 16th January which gave four Italian teachers an opportunity to undertake some comparative discussion and exploration of elearning technologies. The photo shows our Italian visitors and Tino Santonocito from Hastings College. Tino did sterling work as one of the interpreters.

The group, pursuing a Leonardo Project, were undertaking a European tour in order to further develop elearning opportunities within their home institutions in Treveso:

G. Mazzotti School for Tourism and Marketing: www.ittmazzotti.it ITIS E. Fermi School for Chemical, Textile, Mechanics and Thermotechnics studies: www.fermitv.it. Both are vocational colleges.

Professors Monica Foresti (English teacher at Mazzotti), Mariarita Ventura (Maths teacher and Assistant Principal at Mazzotti), Emanuela Lupato (English teacher at Fermi) and Zilla Quaggio (Maths teacher and Assistant Principal at Mazzotti) were particularly interested in the OpenLearn study units and online study resources and tools. Part of the purpose of the project is form collaborations to create learning objects of use across the world. Dr Matilde Gallardo from the Open University's languages faculty gave a fascinating talk on a languages project being undertaken in schools in Kent - she gave the presentation in Spanish - it really was a multilingual event!
