Learner and Discovery Services (LDS) is the award-winning unit of The Open University responsible for the production and delivery of the University’s curriculum; it also has a central role in the design of learning materials.

The role

The Open University are recruiting three Senior Learning Developers to join our cross-functional course design and production team working on microcredentials and short courses on FutureLearn.

In short, your goal in this role is to develop the courses with the most creative, engaging and impactful content in the global online learning market. As if The Open University could get any better! In this newly created role you will bring your advanced communication, design and creative skills to bear on new ranges of online courses designed for adult learners in the ‘new normal’ world of 21st-century work. You will take the lead on course content, informing overall course design, and creating effective learning journeys through digital media and learner communications and engagement. As well as all of that, you will champion technical excellence and continual learning and improvement in the team and the wider organisation.

Skills and experience

You will have significant experience of developing digital and online content and media production, and current hands-on technical skills in two or more of the following: editorial, copywriting, audio/video, graphic design, illustration and software development. You will know your way around current online learning platforms and understand their technical features and pedagogic affordances, and you bring proven experience of successful creative collaborations and partnerships.
