Current Recycling

The University is committed to reducing its waste production by smart purchasing, re-use and recycling.

During the last financial year (19/20) we diverted the following from landfill. A total of 433 tonnes.

  • 145 tonnes of paper and light cardboard
  • 85 tonnes of 'green' compostable waste from campus grounds
  • 29 tonnes of packaging, plastic bottles and metal cans
  • 5 tonnes of metal
  • 3 tonnes of glass
  • 11 tonnes of WEEE - (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment)
  • 1 tonne of batteries
  • 20 tonnes of furniture

Last year we recycled a total of 433 tonnes of waste!

For comparison the average weight of a small car is 1 tonne. So thats over 433 small cars!
