Kate Lister is the manager for accessibility and inclusive practice at the Open University UK and is an expert in accessibility and inclusive pedagogy. She has an MA in educational technology, a teaching licentiate and is a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Her role involves driving and coordinating inclusive practice in the Open University, supporting staff with accessibility issues and championing disabled student needs at different echelons of the University. Her background is in educational technology, language learning and accessible and inclusive pedagogies in international contexts; she worked in Germany, Spain and China before moving to the UK to take up her current role. Her research interests include barriers to learning, participatory research, student engagement and inclusive approaches to language. She leads a work package on the HEFCE Catalyst funded Inc STEM project, and plays a pivotal role in the application of research to practice at the OU.
