Finding your female ancestors can be a challenge. A woman’s maiden name disappeared from many records after she married, meaning we can end up with branches of our family tree full of our male ancestors’ names beside ‘married unknown’.

On Friday 8 March, people around the world will be celebrating women's achievements. This year's focus is on 'better the balance, better the world' to help forge gender balance. To support this, members of the committee have joined the campaign to "strike the #BalanceforBetter pose".
