International Women's Day speakersYesterday (8 March) was International Women's Day, or IWD. This year, the campaign theme was #EachForEqual, because an equal world is an enabled one.

Researching your female ancestors: a seminar with the University Archivist

Finding your female ancestors can be a challenge. A woman’s maiden name disappeared from many records after she married, meaning we can end up with branches of our family tree full of our male ancestors’ names beside ‘married unknown’.

The relaunch of the Women @OU network focused on connections and questioning the status quo, as over 100 colleagues came together at a special event in the week of International Womens’ Day in March.

On Friday 8 March, people around the world will be celebrating women's achievements. This year's focus is on 'better the balance, better the world' to help forge gender balance. To support this, members of the committee have joined the campaign to "strike the #BalanceforBetter pose". Be Bold for Change - Inspiration to Action

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Women@OU network committee lined up an inspirational panel of guests who shared their stories of making change through action.

Based on the campaign theme ‘Be Bold for Change’, this event was designed to stimulate conversations that inspire and motivate women into action. You can watch a recording of the event on Stadium.
