Allusion to classical place Styx, the Underworld

Relationship to Classical text Vergil’s Aeneid VI is perhaps the point of reference for the underworld references.

Further Comment The mood is similar to that of ‘September in Gt. Yarmouth’ (CP, p.16), which also uses Stygian references.
