Allusion to Classical figure Charon, ‘the boatman’, is alluded to, calling in a pleasure-boat with the cry ‘Come in, fifteen, your time is up.’

Allusion to Classical place The cold shoreline, with its queue of ageing parents and teenagers echoes the banks of the Styx.

Relationship to Classical text   Descriptions of the Underworld in Vergil’s Aeneid VI seem to have provided inspiration for the sombre setting.
