OK?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have posted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/SallyJordan\/?p=683\">before <\/a>about the difficulties that students have with fractions and the problems that this causes. Many others recognise the same difficulty.<\/p>\n<p>On a related point, students also have problems with reciprocation, and sometimes\u00a0it is simply\u00a0that they don&#8217;t recall that x<sup>-2<\/sup>=1\/x<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/SallyJordan\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Capture.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-915\" title=\"Capture\" src=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/SallyJordan\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/SallyJordan\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Capture.png 296w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/SallyJordan\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Capture-260x300.png 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/a>So the analysis of the question shown on the right should\u00a0not be too surprising. The question\u00a0is very well answered, but the &#8216;correct&#8217; option that students are least likely to select is\u00a0the one shown highlighted (top right).
