{"id":1352,"date":"2018-02-02T10:50:20","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T10:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/?p=1352"},"modified":"2018-02-02T20:08:27","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T20:08:27","slug":"save-the-date-for-our-live-streamed-ace-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/?p=1352","title":{"rendered":"Save the date for our live-streamed ACE event!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Classical Studies department at the Open University is pleased to announce our upcoming ACE event on the 12<sup>th<\/sup> of March 2018, 2-5 pm. <strong>This event is unique in the ACE programme for being live-streamed and open to any school groups or teachers, across the UK, to attend remotely.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the AHRC-funded project, <a href=\"http:\/\/aceclassics.org.uk\/\">Advocating Classical Education<\/a>, this public partnership event will feature a range of talks and activities promoting the study of Classical Civilisation. We are lucky to have Professor Mary Beard, undoubtedly the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/news\/2018\/jan\/30\/mary-beard-the-cult-of\">best-known Classicist<\/a> in the country,\u00a0joining us: Professor Beard will speak on the importance of Classical Studies in her life and career, and will also participate in a Classics-themed \u2018Question Time\u2019. The event will include talks and interactive sessions from Open University academics on their own research, guidance for teachers on introducing Classical Civilisation to the curriculum, and an introduction to the wide range of open access resources provided by the OU.
