We can\u2019t exactly take all our thousands of students to the pub (!), so we need to think creatively about how to collectively \u2018wind down\u2019 after the end of exams\u2026 as well as how to support students as they start to think ahead to their next modules or qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Arts Faculty tried something a bit different \u2013 a two-day academic Arts event that was broadcast live from a studio on the OU campus in Milton Keynes. The \u2018Arts Student Hub Live\u2019 (Friday June 10<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Saturday June 11th) involved a team of producers and OU staff and students getting together to create a jam-packed programme of live chat shows, quizzes and interactive \u2018study support\u2019 sessions \u2013 all designed to help our Arts and Humanities students take stock of their achievements over the past year, and find out more about the various subjects, modules and degrees offered in the Arts &amp; Humanities programme.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/henry_jess.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-879\" src=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/henry_jess-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"henry_jess\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/henry_jess-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/henry_jess-624x468.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/henry_jess.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>It\u2019s difficult to express quite how much fun and hard work it was putting the event together, but you\u2019ll be able to get some inkling from the videos on this webpage. Our main Classical Studies session involved <a href=\"http:\/\/studenthublive.kmi.open.ac.uk\/?q=biography\/jessica-hughes\">Jess Hughes<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/studenthublive.kmi.open.ac.uk\/?q=biography\/henry-stead\">Henry Stead<\/a> rustling up a lunchtime \u2018Classical picnic\u2019, which they shared with the Hub presenter Karen Foley and her pet rhinoceros. Radishes, retsina, dates and Ambrosia rice pudding were just some of the delicacies that we used to showcase the diversity of Classical Studies and introduce our tempting undergraduate curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>Other sessions with a classical theme included <a href=\"http:\/\/studenthublive.kmi.open.ac.uk\/?q=abstract\/creative-writing\">Henry\u2019s talk about Creative Writing<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/studenthublive.kmi.open.ac.uk\/?q=abstract\/myth-and-storytelling\">Jessica\u2019s discussion with Dan Weinbren about \u2018Myths of the early OU\u2019<\/a> (think Pygmalion and <em>Educating Rita<\/em>).
