The conference comprises\u00a0two days of academic papers and includes keynote\u00a0lectures by <a href=\"http:\/\/edithhall.co.uk\/\">Prof.\u00a0Edith Hall<\/a> (King&#8217;s College London) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.le.ac.uk\/departments\/archaeology\/people\/academics\/allison\">Prof.\u00a0Penelope Allison<\/a> (University of Leicester). The first of these\u00a0is a free public event\u00a0generously sponsored\u00a0by the Hellenic Centre &#8211; all are welcome to attend.\u00a0The\u00a0full conference\u00a0programme can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/classicalstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Military-families-programme.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the conference is \u00a330 for two days or \u00a320 for one day, to include lunch and refreshments as well as a wine reception prior to the first keynote lecture,\u00a0hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helleniccentre.org\/\">Hellenic Centre<\/a> (16-18 Paddington Street, London W1U 5AS) on Friday 11<sup>th<\/sup> November. The conference dinner will be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opso.co.uk\/\">Opso Restaurant\u00a0<\/a>(10, Paddington Street, London W1U 5QL) on Friday 11th at an additional cost of \u00a328.60 per person (excluding wine). Payment is possible by cheque, credit card or BACS transfer.<\/p>\n<p>To register, and for payment details, please email Emma Bridges (<a href=\"mailto:e.e.bridges@open.ac.uk\">e.e.bridges@open.ac.uk<\/a>) by <strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> November 2016<\/strong>, stating whether you wish to attend the full conference or for one day only, and whether you will be attending the conference dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the generous support of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icls.sas.ac.uk\/\">Institute of Classical Studies<\/a> a limited number of bursaries to cover the conference fee (excluding the cost of the conference dinner) and to assist with travel expenses (from within the UK)\u00a0is available to support the attendance of postgraduate students and those who are\u00a0under- or unemployed. If you would like to be considered for a bursary please email the organisers (Emma Bridges, e.e.bridges@open.ac.uk and Ursula Rothe, ursula.rothe@open.ac.uk) directly by <strong>14<sup>th<\/sup> October 2016<\/strong>,\u00a0outlining briefly your reasons for wishing to attend the conference and stating whether you require a bursary to cover the cost of the conference fee alone, or to assist with travel expenses in addition (if the latter, please give an indication of the expected cost of travel).
