It was quite interesting to sit down and really consider how I could summarise some of my conclusions in an accessible way and in less than five minutes. Summarising two 10,000 word journal articles into a short video is tricky! \u00a0I might even claim that it is useful thesis planning as it helped me to think about how the different topics should be divided and how they interacted with each other and formed a coherent story.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3572\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3572\" style=\"width: 507px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3572 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-2021-06-08-at-11.50.40.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"507\" height=\"434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-2021-06-08-at-11.50.40.png 830w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-2021-06-08-at-11.50.40-300x257.png 300w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-2021-06-08-at-11.50.40-768x657.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3572\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Interaction of different research areas on &#8216;the master Venn diagram&#8217;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It was also interesting to consider how best to display some of the concepts visually, especially the more abstract concepts like &#8216;heritage value&#8217; and to think about how to model the things that I don&#8217;t have in Playmobil (I understand that they do now do solar panels but I don&#8217;t have any and it wouldn&#8217;t be sustainable to buy more plastic just for a research communication video!).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3573\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3573\" style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/solar-panels-300x155.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/solar-panels-300x155.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/solar-panels-768x398.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/design\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/solar-panels-960x498.jpeg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3573\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#8217;s amazing what you can do with some editing software, a printer and some cardboard and sellotape<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All in all I found it a fun and useful exercise and I hope that it will help explain some of my research to a wider audience in an accessible way.
