The NHS: A People’s History<\/em> <\/a>and The Fires that Foretold Grenfell<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>co-produced by the BBC and The Open University\u2019s Broadcast and Partnerships team have been nominated for the 2019 Learning on Screen Broadcast Awards.<\/a><\/p>\n

The NHS: A People’s History<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"Broadcast in Jul 2018, as part of the 70th<\/sup> Anniversary of the NHS, Alex Brooker told the story of the NHS through the voices of the people whose lives it has affected, from its birth in 1948 to the present day.<\/p>\n

In each episode, patients and staff from all over the country dug out and shared their treasured mementos to tell deeply personal stories that chart the highs and lows of the National Health Service\u2019s 70-year history.<\/p>\n

The Fires That Foretold Grenfell<\/h2>\n

\"\"This vivid and moving film from October 2018, collated the memories of survivors, the bereaved, firefighters, safety experts, and the politicians linked to five intensely fierce fire disasters that preceded Grenfell. This telling collection of interviews and archive footage showed the clear warnings that existed and could have predicted a Grenfell-type inferno happening in Britain.<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced at the Learning on Screen Gala held on the 25th April 2019 at the Curzon in Soho.<\/p>\n
