{"id":16882,"date":"2020-11-12T08:00:53","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T08:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ounews.co\/?p=16882"},"modified":"2020-11-12T08:00:53","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T08:00:53","slug":"the-open-university-joins-the-5-club-to-further-drive-earn-and-learn-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/around-ou\/the-open-university-joins-the-5-club-to-further-drive-earn-and-learn-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"The Open University joins The 5% Club to further drive earn and learn opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/\">The Open University (OU)<\/a> is joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.5percentclub.org.uk\/\">The 5% Club<\/a>, an employer-led movement which champions investment in the next generation through workplace training.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, which boasts a huge range of industry and businesses as members, was established by Leo Quinn, Group CEO of Balfour Beatty, to create a shared prosperity across the UK by driving, &#8216;earn and learn&#8217; skills training opportunities.<\/p>\n<h2>Diverse routes into learning<\/h2>\n<p>Members who join the network must aim for five per cent of their workforce to be earning and learning. The OU has eight per cent of their workforce earning and learning and signs The 5% Club Charter in a shared commitment to help the UK\u2019s growth agenda and to play a part in addressing the UK\u2019s acute skills mis-match.<\/p>\n<p>Caragh Molloy, Group People Director at The Open University, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0\u201cThe OU is delighted to be partnering with The 5% Club.
