From achieving small goals to staying focussed on why you began study in the first place, here are the five top tips from those who&#8217;ve been there &#8211; OU students&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>1. Take regular breaks<\/h2>\n<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s better to walk away and take a break so you can come back more focused.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW200168520\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW200168520\">\u201cWhen there is a lot to do, it might seem counterproductive to take a <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW200168520\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW200168520\">break,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW200168520\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW200168520\"> but it helps to unwind and come back with more energy to grind on.\u201d &#8211; @sabry.t84<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\">\u201cTake a step back. I remind myself that sometimes you just need a day to chill and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\">centre<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\">\u00a0yourself before going back to studying. I find taking a day every now and then to just do some\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\">self-care<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\">\u00a0and chill, makes me more productive and more motivated when I go back to studying.\u201d<\/span><\/span><span class=\"LineBreakBlob BlobObject DragDrop SCXW408613 BCX8\"><span class=\"SCXW408613 BCX8\"> &#8211; <span class=\"TextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW408613 BCX8\">@rhianon_sarah<\/span><\/span><\/span><br class=\"SCXW408613 BCX8\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW236587591\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW236587591\">\u201cGet outside! Take the breaks you need and if you do fall behind, work harder in the upcoming days so that you can carry on taking nights\/days off to enjoy yourself and breath<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW236587591\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW236587591\">e<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW236587591\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW236587591\">.\u201d @charlottehunt23<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>2. If <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW64188788 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64188788 BCX8\">necessary,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW64188788 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64188788 BCX8\">\u00a0I adjust what I must do, what I should do and what I need to do. Break down the work into smaller sections<\/h2>\n<p>It can feel overwhelming to look at all the tasks you have to complete. Break it down in to smaller sections and tackle one bit at a time.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW243666287\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW243666287\">\u201cWhen writing an essay, I try and do a paragraph at a time then do something else for 15 mins, takes me ages but it&#8217;s a way for me to not feel <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW243666287\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW243666287\">overloaded.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW243666287\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW243666287\">\u201d &#8211; @judenumber52<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW213413322\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW213413322\">\u201cBreak it down into small steps I find it easier to do a few 1-2hour sessions than try to cram in a lot over a weekend.\u201d &#8211; @5littleterrors<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>4. Stay organised and plan out your time<\/h2>\n<p>Making a plan can help you keep on top of your work.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW102423938\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW102423938\">\u00a0\u201cThe key for me is making good linear notes on chapters so when I\u2019m feeling overwhelmed with an essay a lot of the leg work with references and key points is already done.\u201d &#8211; @natmay21<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\">\u201cOrganisation skills &#8211; Mind maps, lots of post it notes, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\">different\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\">colour<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW55386440\"> markers and pens&#8230; stick mostly to the important key points when you feel overwhelmed.\u201d &#8211; @aliciamolz<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXW208107863\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXW208107863\">\u201cPlan exactly what you are going to do and when. Create a study timetable where it tells you what part of the online material\/reading\/assignment to do when.
