{"id":20198,"date":"2022-01-10T15:22:41","date_gmt":"2022-01-10T15:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ounews.co\/?p=20198"},"modified":"2022-01-10T15:22:41","modified_gmt":"2022-01-10T15:22:41","slug":"the-ou-and-bbc-bitesize-collaborate-on-new-campaign-to-help-young-people-imagine-a-more-sustainable-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/around-ou\/the-ou-and-bbc-bitesize-collaborate-on-new-campaign-to-help-young-people-imagine-a-more-sustainable-world\/","title":{"rendered":"The OU and BBC Bitesize collaborate on new campaign to help young people imagine a more sustainable world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Regenerators campaign is designed to help young people think about and shape their future careers for sustainability, with a series of digital videos launched today January 10th on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/bitesize\/tags\/z2hvydm\/green-careers\/1\">BBC Bitesize website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to equip children, teenagers and young people with the tools and skills to understand the most important environmental issues of our time, inspire them to take positive action and prepare them to thrive in an uncertain future.<\/p>\n<h2>Green Classroom<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to the videos there\u2019s lots of excellent resources for teachers, parents and children; from lessons, quizzes, games, films, to tips on how we can all live more sustainably which can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/bitesize\/articles\/zppx2v4\">bbc.co.uk\/regenerators<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The series aligns with the OU\u2019s sustainability and climate change aims and ambitions, specifically, green skills development.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Victoria Hands, sustainability consultant at The Open University advised on the production and says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt was a pleasure to listen to the young Regenerators featured in the films who are \u2018greening\u2019 their careers. By asking \u2018what if\u2019 questions and sharing links to free learning resources and other useful sustainability information. I hope young people will be inspired to find out how we can make every job a green job \u2013 including theirs. We are all part of our wonderful natural world and protecting it helps sustain us all, enabling our collective wellbeing supports our personal wellbeing. Choosing a career that has a positive impact on the environment can be challenging with so many options on offer. The videos show the next generation of workers making their jobs more sustainable.
