{"id":24469,"date":"2023-12-26T09:00:25","date_gmt":"2023-12-26T09:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ounews.co\/?p=24469"},"modified":"2023-12-26T09:00:25","modified_gmt":"2023-12-26T09:00:25","slug":"top-ten-most-popular-free-courses-to-indulge-in-on-openlearn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.open.ac.uk\/blogs\/news\/around-ou\/top-ten-most-popular-free-courses-to-indulge-in-on-openlearn\/","title":{"rendered":"Top ten most popular free courses to indulge in on OpenLearn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since its launch in 2006 The Open University\u2019s free learning resource website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.edu\/openlearn\/money-business\/introduction-bookkeeping-and-accounting\/content-section-0?active-tab=description-tab\">OpenLearn<\/a> has received more than 112 million visits with many people going on to complete several of the hundreds of free courses available.<\/p>\n<p>Each year we collate which are the most popular \u2013 some are just a few hours long while others \u2013 the badged open courses \u2013 comprise 24 hours of CPD-approved learning and upon completion earn the user a digital badge that can be used on their CV and shared with tutors, employers and via LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p>These courses help people step from informal learning to formal and can help demonstrate that they have gained a skill online. Not <em>all<\/em> are badged courses and they differ from Open University courses because you don\u2019t receive support from a tutor, but you <em>do<\/em> receive feedback from the interactive quizzes.<\/p>\n<p>There are more than 80 badged courses and thousands of educational games, videos and academic articles, reaching an audience of around 10 million people a year.<\/p>\n<p>So, in order of popularity, out of the 900 courses on OpenLearn, here\u2019s the full list of the top ten most popular free courses in 2023:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.open.edu\/openlearn\/money-business\/introduction-bookkeeping-and-accounting\/content-section-0?active-tab=description-tab\">Introduction to bookkeeping and accounting:<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nThis eight-hour-long course explains the fundamental rules of double-entry bookkeeping and how they are used to produce both the balance sheet and the profit and loss account. The course was written by the OU, with MSE providing support and guidance.
